About Goldendoodles

A Goldendoodle is a hybrid, “designer” dog which is a cross between a poodle and a golden- retriever that results in a 50% poodle and 50% golden retriever puppy, also known as an F1 goldendoodle.

An F1 goldendoodle can have little to no shedding and usually ranges from a wavy to curly coat.  It takes a few months for a puppies coat to fully come in.

An F1B goldendoodle is a cross between an F1 and a poodle which results in 75% poodle and 25% golden-retriever.  While not completely hypoallergenic, this breed has even less shedding than an F1, which are even a better fit for those with sensitive allergies. The coats are usually very plush curly coats but you might have an F1B that carries a more wavy trait as an F1.

Goldendoodles are great dogs for families as they are great companions.  They are very loyal, affectionate, great guide dogs, very athletic with a lot of energy and make great therapy dogs! They need activity everyday with some room to run in the backyard, go for a walk, hike, play tug of war, any kind of playful exercise.  Goldendoodles love water!  It is a joy watching them play in it and with them.  Whether you live in the city or the country, they will love either as long as they have attention, love and room for exercise. They love to stand up, love hugs and love to cuddle.  Just a long embrace of a big hug makes them so happy as they have a lot of love to give.

The standard goldendoodle weighs between 45-55 pounds.  Their hair can be  wavy, shaggy or very curly. They need to be bathed regularly, generally once every month. They also need to be brushed once a week as a minimum. They love getting brushed and is a good time for bonding with your dog and examining their skin which is hidden by all their beautiful hair.  Brushing is very important so they don’t get matted.
